Seminar:

The Future of China
Many Challenges

Will China´s growing shortage of natural resources overtake the high economic growth rates of the past two decades? Arthur Kroeber, editor of the China Economic Quarterly, resident of Beijing and a leading analyst of developments in China, will discuss China´s medium-term future. He will focus on its resources shortages --water, arable land and energy supplies, except coal. Brazil has water, land and energy in abundance, but development is slow because of institutional weakenesses. Will China overcome these difficulties with its millennial assets such as its capacity for social organization and large-scale mobilization of manpower? This seminar will be conducted in English.
